Domain name choices

Choosing a domain name for your business is one of the most important business decisions you can make.

Some companies go for their company name, or some variant on it. Let's pretend your company name is General Motor Parts. Often, acronyms of a company name are already taken - and are gone, in this example. That leaves you with generalmotorparts or, say, general-motor-parts in either or .com guises.

These might, however, be considered something of a mouthful. How about Or something more creative?

However, one alternative that bears thinking about is describing the service you provide in the domain. Search engines quite like this approach so it can't do your search engine rankings any harm.

Think about domains like or Your company name isn't after all of that much interest to someone searching online. They're more interested in the provision of a service or of goods. And with a domain name that says what you do, you may be on to a winner.
